During the course of a week, it is not uncommon for the support technicians to hear about how an internet connection is cutting in and out, how popups, popunders, popovers and popeverywheres are slowing customers' computers down more than 3 times a day. The leading reason for this is Internet Explorer's use of ActiveX plugins in the browser. These are those popups asking you to install certain programs when you're visiting many websites. Oftentimes, the security prompt looks very real, telling you that you will need a certain program to be installed on your PC before you can view their website or download their program. These programs, called Adware or Spyware are what bring down your computer's speed, hijack your internet connection and pop those windows all over the place. The best way to avoid having these programs installed and taking over your PC is to change to a browser which doesn't support ActiveX plugins, and therefore can't install those programs. This is why I strongly recommend switching from Internet Explorer to the Mozilla Firefox browser. Click the Firefox button below to follow the very easy install process, which will integrate your current bookmarks into Firefox seamlessly. And then feel free to check out all the plugins available, including adblockers, Flashblockers and many, many other useful addons you can install with a minimum of 2 mouseclicks. |
